MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis woman announced plans Monday to launch a music, television and film company, and base it in the Bluff City.
The company, MVP-3 Entertainment Group and J & D Films, is the brainchild of Marie Pizano.
"Our first movie is 'Pop Star' that we're developing, and that's gonna encompass all the music, filming it here in Memphis and Nashville," Pizano said.
At a press conference Monday, Pizano shared her excitement and her vision for the future.
"I have some great friends that are coming to help me pull this off, and make this a bigger powerhouse, kind of like we're forming a Universal Studio, Stax and Time Warner all in one," she said.
Pizano is already executive producer on a documentary she is working on with her business partner Nicholas Celozzi about mobster Sam Gianaccana. She also in the process of casting actors for a new reality show.
"Kind of like actors trying to make it in the business, what it takes to make it in the business," MVP-3 actor Paulo Benedeti said.
They are ambitious goals, but Pizano is telling anyone who will listen that she's up to the challenge.
"I've got big friends like Bill Falcon, who's written numerous hits for Bon Jovi, Stevie Nicks and Meat Loaf," she said.
Pizano's goal now is to find the right investors. She believes if she succeeds, it will help the Memphis economy, and in the process provide jobs for local residents.
