Investigators: Driver in fatal Old Brunswick crash was drunk, speeding

ARLINGTON, TN (WMC-TV) - The driver of a pick-up truck involved in a single vehicle crash on Old Brunswick Road that killed a 14-year-old girl was drunk and was speeding, authorities said Monday.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Christopher Minton's Ford-150 was traveling at speeds of greater than 70 miles per hour when he veered off the road on November 9, 2010 and struck a tree head-on.

Rachel Lutrell, 14, was killed in the crash. Mallory McCord, 16, and Dillon Koonce, 19, suffered serious injuries, along with Minton.

Authorities said Minton, 18, had a blood alcohol level of 0.07 at the time of the crash.  He remains in extremely critical condition.

Investigators said the Shelby County Attorney General's office will review the case to determine if any charges will be filed.
