MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A suspect is on the loose after he attacked another man at a Midtown Memphis restaurant Monday night.

Following a concert at Minglewood Hall, many partied afterward at The Beauty Shop restaurant in the heart of Cooper-Young.

James Blachly was there after a different concert and witnessed what he called a one-sided attack.

"This short guy came in and just started wailing on him," said Blachly.  "He had probably five or six hits right to the head.  This guy was really, really messed up.  His whole face was covered in blood."

The 42-year-old victim was in the hospital Tuesday.

The suspect is still on the loose and was last seen running north on Cooper.

Police said the incident began when the victim was hit in the head by either a glass ash try or a glass beer bottle.  Police are not sure which because they found broken glass from both on the floor of the restaurant.

Another witness e-mailed Action News 5 a photo of the bloody aftermath and described it as a "massive fight."

"It was a peaceful scene.  It was fun," said Blachly.  "People were having a great time and to destroy that with violence just disrupted everyone's good time.  I don't know what got into him.  I just can't understand it."

Both the restaurant and the victim's girlfriend declined to comment.  Police said they are searching for a suspect and the investigation is open.
