HOLLY SPRINGS, MS (WMC-TV) - Students and faculty at Rust College in Holly Springs gathered Thursday to remember one of their own, murdered earlier this week.

James Davis passed out programs to students and faculty as they poured into the auditorium.

"It's for a friend, a dear friend," he said.

The private memorial was held Thursday morning to remember 24-year-old Octavia Crumb. Sunday night, Crumb and her fiance, Darrell Findely, were murdered.

Later, Holly Springs Police charged her brother, Justin Crumb, after investigators said he walked to a nearby fire station and confessed.

Davis said the murders have been tough on the entire Rust College campus.

"Normally we would see her when we walk through the cafeteria, so it's been hard for a lot of people to walk through the cafeteria and not see her face," he said.

Davis remembered the Mass Communication student as down-to-earth and helpful.

"She always had a smile on her face," he said.

"She was inspirational," added Pasquail Cook, a classmate to Crumb. "She was always loving. She could always talk to anybody."

Cook put together a slideshow of Crumb for the memorial service. He said the mother of two was graduating this spring and will be deeply missed.

"I never knew how important she was to me, until she was gone," Cook said. "She was something. She really was."

Justin Crumb's bond has been set at $1 Million.
