MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A man who witnesses say was twirling a revolver around his finger when he accidentally shot and killed a bystander faces a reckless homicide charge.

According to Memphis police, Terrace Covington shot Brian Henard while handling a gun Wednesday afternoon in a condominium in the 3500 block of Boxdale.

Henard, 48, was struck in the neck and died a short time later.

Covington, 23, told investigators he was trying to uncock the gun's hammer when the weapon discharged.

Friday, a Memphis police spokesperson said Covington was charged with reckless homicide.  He is currently locked up at 201 Poplar on $100,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
