RIPLEY, TN (WMC-TV) - Ripley, Tennessee native Ramon Foster is gearing up to play in next week's Super Bowl.

Foster's entire hometown is standing behind one of their favorite sons as he prepares for one of the biggest games of his life.

Ramon Foster has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for two years.

"It's a long road, and to be in your second year as a professional and make it so the Super Bowl is just great," said his mother Wyvonia Morgan.

Before that, this football phenom played for the University of Tennessee Vols, but he got his start as a Ripley High School Tiger.

There, Foster was named all-state and all-region player and finished on a team with a 10-2 record.

"I'm just so excited," said his mother.  "It's so amazing."

Foster's family plans to go to the big game next week.  His mother said she has dreamed of this day all of her life.

"It's such a rough sport," said Morgan.  "I was always the one with my hand on my eyes."

Foster's teachers said his talents went beyond the football field.  He was named senior class president, Mr. Football, and Mr. Ripley High.

"I think we're going to have an event here at Ripley High in the little theater," said Ripley High School principal Joe Bridges.  "There's several local businesses that are going to try and fill our theater, put up a big screen to watch the Super Bowl."

As evident to passers-by outside the school, the entire community is proud of its football star.

"It feels good and I think God for it and all the people of Ripley, of Covington, everywhere," said Morgan.  "I never would have thought this would happen."

Talent runs rampant in Foster's family.  His older brother Renaldo is an offensive lineman for the St. Louis Rams.  His little brother Michael is known for his singing ability.
