Processed foods may affect kids' IQs

(CNN) - Too much processed food at a young age may lower a person's IQ.

Researchers in Britain tracked what thousands of kids ate and drank at the age of 3, 4, 7 and 8 1/2.

They found when a 3-year-old ate a lot of fatty, sugary, processed foods, their IQ was lower at the age of 8.

The scientists didn't find the same correlation in kids aged 4 and 7.

Doctors said this study is something to keep in mind, but that many variables are also in play at these ages.
