OSCEOLA, AR (WMC-TV) A law enforcement officer shot and killed an Osceola man during an armed confrontation with federal, state, and local officials, according to Arkansas State Police.

FBI Agents went to Osceola, Arkansas to serve a search warrant. The confrontation happened at around 1:45 Tuesday afternoon.

Family friends say the man shot and killed was Brandon Fountain. He was air lifted to The Med where he later died.

Arkansas State Police are now in charge of the investigation into the shooting.

A spokesperson will not say what the agencies were investigating.

The spokesperson says as investigators were questioning one man an, "armed confrontation occurred."

That's when a law enforcement officer shot the man.

"I heard no gunshots, I heard nothing until I heard sirens stop nearby," Lori Roszell said, who lives nearby. "And I came outside and there were already people congregating, and they knew that FBI agents had been in the neighborhood since 9:00 AM."

"All of a sudden I heard sirens," neighbor Ashley Madison said. "Then I looked out the window and I seen an ambulance go by...Then all of a sudden I saw the ambulance leave. From that way, and all the Feds were going in the other direction."

It happened at about 1:45 Tuesday afternoon. Investigators continued to work into the night.

"It was chaos, it's been like a circus over here all day."

Ashley Madison met Fountain when she was in high school.

"He was laid back, got along with everyone, friends with everyone."

Family friends of Fountain say he was a good person, and a hard worker. They say he worked for his dad's plumbing business.

Again, investigators will not confirm what they were investigating in Osceola.
