ATOKA, TN (WMC-TV) - Two Memphians are locked up after police say they went on a shop-lifting spree at Dollar General Stores across West Tennessee.

A store manager at the Atoka Dollar General is credited with putting two shop lifters behind bars.

"She noticed she wasn't moving very freely, it was very hard to move coming in and out of the store," said investigator Chris Ellwood of the Atoka Police Department.

Atoka police say Daniel Payne and Teresa Beasley face felony theft charges. The two are accused of stealing a laundry list of items.

"Air fresheners, playing cards, deodorants, snack cakes," Ellwood said.

Pictures show some of the stolen items, including gallons of laundry detergent. Police say the two were likely going to sell most of the stolen items and use the rest.

"There was some indication they may have had a card game set up and ready to go," Ellwood said.

The store manager couldn't talk on camera but police say she's the real hero in getting the suspects behind bars.  She noticed one suspect walking towards the door, her coat filled with stolen items.  She stepped in front of her, stopped her, and called 911.

After a short chase up Highway 51, the two suspects were caught behind the Covington Wal-Mart store.

Shortly after the arrest, the Dollar General Manager posted about the incident on the store's Facebook page. Police then discovered this wasn't the suspects' only crime.

Daniel Payne and Teresa Beasley are believed to also be connected to Dollar General thefts in Covington and Brighton, and a theft at Wal-Mart in Brownsville.
