Students build robot to help blind student

MIDLAND, TX (CNN) - Students at a middle school in Texas put their talents together to help a blind classmate.

After losing his eyesight during an asthma attack, Dante Hall received a robot that was made by students in his robotics class at San Jacinto Middle School in Midland, TX.

Students say they built the robot to help Dante navigate through the hallways.

"He was just telling us how it's really hard for him to get around with a cane because people jump over it and run in front of it," said Clair Lancaster, a student.

The students are a part of the Inventions Team at the middle school, and they plan to enter the robot in a state competition in April.

"Robotics is a great class, the best class I've ever been in," Dante said. "I've got a lot of people helping me."
