MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Police have one suspect in custody and are still searching for others wanted for stealing money from an MLGW kiosk.

Back in November, the camera on a Memphis Light Gas and Water payment kiosk was recording as a thief pried open the machine and stole the cash inside.

According to MLGW's Glen Thomas, the haul from heist totaled $27,420.

"No checks were taken," Thomas said. "Only cash."

There were four men in all, who escaped in a burgundy Ford Expedition.

Investigators identified one of the suspects as Antonio Thompson, and another as Thompson's brother.  For three months, they avoided arrest.  But according to an affidavit of complaint, after Thompson and his brother saw themselves on recent news reports, they painted their getaway car.

Then the brothers drove their Expedition, now black in color, to Chicago to lay low.

But soon after, Thompson got caught, and he is now in jail on $25,000 bond.

Now, every MLGW customer who shows up to pay must go inside during regular business hours.  Currently the utility's payment kiosks are locked up, closed down and out of order.

Thompson said the kiosks are undergoing repairs and upgrades, to make sure no one else swipes cash from them.
