Obama gives love to education on Valentine's Day

NEW YORK (CNN) - President Barack Obama showed his love for education in honor of Valentine's Day.

The president made a stop at Parkville Middle and Center of Technology in the Baltimore-area Monday to speak with students.

While there, he toured a science class to see what the kids were working on. Obama told the students he was proud of their work and stressed the importance it holds for the future, citing the role new technology played in the recent Egypt protests as an example.

"We live in a world that is getting smaller because of technology," he said. "You saw recently what was happening in Egypt. People with Facebook and Twitter led an entire revolution in their country, and we were watching it live on television."

Obama said the historical moment would not have been possible without advances made in technology over the last 30 years.

The president also laid out some of his priorities for his proposed 2012 budget. While he will ask for cuts in several areas, including defense, he said he's leaving room for investments in education.
