MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Police say a man and possibly pregnant woman were attempting to buy a television using a stolen credit card when they were caught on camera inside the Walmart store on Elvis Presley Boulevard in Whitehaven.

It was just two and half hours after the card was taken at gunpoint from a woman walking along Highland near the University of Memphis.

"We try and tell people not to walk in this area by themselves," said longtime resident Eli Turham. "People get desperate and need money or need something."

Memphis Police say the victim in this case was approached by the male suspect around 2:00 in the morning near the corner of Highland and Walker.  He took her Coach purse, cash, and credit card.

Police say the woman refused to hand over the goods until the suspect produced a handgun.

The possibly pregnant woman may have been waiting in an SUV in which the armed man drove away.

Turham is not surprised a pregnant woman may have been part of the robbery.

"I mean, anybody can be involved in crime," said Turham.

The crime occurred the last day of January.  Police hope the release of surveillance photos brings a solid lead.

Call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH with any information about this armed robbery.
