MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A robbery victim tracked down a Memphis thief over the weekend using Facebook and a mysterious text message.

According to investigators, the suspect, Joseph Chalmers, and two other men forced their way into the victim's apartment complex on February 18th.  The men took off with the victim's purse, wallet, credit cards, iPhone, iPad and her Xbox 360.

The next day, the victim's brother received a mysterious text message from an unfamiliar phone number that said, "I got ya."

Police traced the number back to Chalmers.  The victim then used Facebook to search for Chalmers, identifying him to investigators.

Monday, Chalmers found himself incarcerated at 201 Poplar, on an aggravated robbery charge.

Though he did not want to appear on camera, Chalmers' father said his son wasn't raised to be a thief, and he is still trying to get the whole story about what happened.

At last check, the others involved in this robbery have not been captured or charged.
