MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis mother is recovering Wednesday after a group of teens attacked her with a brick.

Charlette Gathings had surgery and is out of the hospital after she was attacked by several teens and beaten with a brick.

Gathings spoke with investigators at 201 Poplar Wednesday about the incident. According to the police report, the attack happened last Thursday.

Gathings was picking her daughter up from Raleigh Egypt High School where a teen suspect was trying to fight her daughter. Gathings' son intervened and a fight broke out.

Gathings and school officials broke up the altercation.

However, about an hour later, the teen suspect showed up at Gathings' home in Raleigh with two car loads of other teens. Investigators said the teen suspect's brother picked up a brick and struck Gathings in the head, leaving her unconscious.

Gathings received several broken bones in her neck and had to get stitches.

Authorities have not made any arrests, but are questioning several people. Investigators have not determined if the incident was gang-related.
