MILLINGTON, TN (WMC-TV) - Winds that reached speeds of nearly 90 miles per hour swept through portions of Millington Thursday night, leaving behind a large path of destruction.

When a tree fell on Randi Reyes mobile home, her fiance was trapped inside.

"He ran to the bedroom and grabbed the mattress to pull over him," she said. "The ceiling fell in and it hit him in the back and knocked him to the ground."
The tree left a gigantic hole in the roof.  Reyes said her fiance had to struggle to find his way out.

"He couldn't breathe," she said. "He couldn't see. So he crawled to the bathroom, grabbed the top off the toilet and busted the window and took off running."

Thursday night's storms packed a powerful punch across Millington.  Heavy rains and winds flipped a single engine plane upside down on its roof at Charles Baker Airport.

Meanwhile, the severe weather also sent this tree crashing into Betsy Brown's home and this shed.
"I'm scared me half to death," she said. "I went and took the dog and shut the door.  I was scared and just shaking real bad."

The storms toppled power lines, leaving many residents in the dark for hours.
"I don't like not having utilities because I'm like the rest of the people, I'd rather stay warm," Betsy Brown said.

As power crews worked diligently to try to restore power, neighbors spent the day cleaning up, assessing the damage, and counting their blessings.

"When we woke up this morning and saw the damage, it was really destructive," Steve Brown said.

"I don't even care about any of that stuff," Reyes added. "I'm just glad I got my family. I held them very, very, tightly."

Reyes said her fiance was not injured.  Now that they're without a home, Reyes told me her family plans to stay with relatives.
