Casino is 1st in Atlantic City to become dog friendly

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (NBC) - Showboat Atlantic City Hotel and Casino has become the first area casino to allow canines to stay with their owners at the resort.

The hotel and casino became pet friendly last Thursday, which has made pet-lovers drool with excitement.

Dogs checking in will get to enjoy all the amenities of PetStay: food, a water bowl, treats and a roped-off area on Pacific Avenue to conduct doggy business. Also included in the package are disposable waste bags for said business.

The restrictions on dogs staying at the hotel include: no dogs in the food area, spa, retail shops and casino floor.

The Showboat hoped that this new trick rolls over into even more fun for guests, who no longer have to worry about leaving their pet at home.

There is a $40 a night dog fee, but the fee is being waived for the next two weeks.

This is the latest attempt to attract visitors back to the nation's second-largest gambling market.
