Passengers exposed to measles

SAN DEIGO (CNN) - California health officials are contacting airline passengers that were exposed to measles on a recent flight from Denver to San Diego.

The San Diego County Health Department are informing all passengers to contact their doctor by phone if they see any signs of the disease.

"About 138 individuals that were on the manifest with Southwest Airlines for that flight from Denver to San Diego were potentially exposed," said Wilma Wooten of the San Diego Health Department. "Now, this entire process started actually in the United Kingdom, so the individual who does have measles apparently contracted the infection while they were visiting in Europe."

The symptoms include fever, a dry cough, a runny nose, inflamed eyes and a rash. Wooten said measles is spread through airborne contact and is highly contagious.
