BYHALIA, MS - (WMC-TV) - A missing man in Marshall County, Mississippi was found Tuesday thanks to a tracking device .

"It's okay, Poppa. It's a good thing now," said James Tillery, Jr. as he comforted his emotional father. On Tuesday, James Tillery, Sr. lost his way and nearly lost his life.

"I just went for a walk," said Tillery, Sr. "I got lost, I guess."

The 76-year-old suffers from Dementia. He was last seen around noon Tuesday. When his son arrived home after work, he was told his father was missing.

"We had probably a dozen, or twenty people out here searching for him," said Tillery, Jr.

But they could not find him. Tillery had fallen into a ravine and could not get out.

"I was there about two hours," said the elderly man.

This was Tillery's second time to go missing. Luckily this time, he took along a Project Lifesaver tracking bracelet.

"After the first time we talked to the family and explained the lifesaver program that we have and they were really interested in getting it," said Major Cook with Marshall Co. Sheriff's Dept.

Cook responded with the tracking equipment.

"It'll lead you to where they are," said Cook as he demonstrated how the equipment works.

Cook found the lost man nearly 30 minutes after Cook began tracking his signal.

"I located him with the equipment in about a 20-foot ditch with water in it," said Cook. "About half of his body was under water."

Tillery, Jr. is thankful for Project Lifesaver. He said its fast tracking saved his father's life.

"We would have never found him without it, said Tillery, Jr. "We would have never found him."

Cook said Project Lifesaver is funded by a grant for Marshall County. He added there are still five bracelets available at no charge. After they are gone, the cost is $300. For more information, contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 662-252-1311.
