Mississippi authorities say teen beaten and branded

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 15-year-old boy was beaten and branded with hot metal for bumping into a 12-year-old girl at an underage drinking party in Mississippi and four people, ranging in age from 12 to 46, have been charged in the case.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Billie Sollie said 46-yer-old Denise Randall was hosting a party in the east-central Mississippi community of Meridian last weekend when the victim bumped into her daughter. Someone called the girl's 15-year-old boyfriend.

Sollie said the boyfriend arrived and held the victim, whose identity was not released, at gunpoint while he was beaten and branded with hot metal.

The sheriff said the teen's injuries were not life threatening.
