MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The Central High School campus is still in shock after former student Tina Stewart was stabbed to death by another former student, Shanterrica Madden.

Both women were enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University. They were roommates by assignment.

Wednesday night, at their off-campus apartment, police said they got into an argument that ended with Stewart dead.

Investigators charged Madden with first degree murder. She is in jail with no bond, but her attorney, Joe Madden, said she is not a killer.

"I don't think there was any question she was defending herself," he said. "Miss Stewart, unfortunately, ended up getting stabbed with her own knife."

Stewart's teammates plan to keep playing in her honor.

"Tina's greatly going to be missed," said MTSU senior guard Anne Marie Lanning.

KC Anuna, Stewart's boyfriend, plans to remember her forever.

"She lightens up everybody's day," said Anuna. "She's a hard worker, very tough."

Shanterrica Madden will go back to court March 11. Her attorney will argue for a bond to be set.
