Iditarod race kicks off in Alaska

WILLOW, AK (CNN) - The self-proclaimed "Last Great Race on Earth" is once again underway in Alaska.

Sixty-two dog sled teams are racing more than 1,100 miles from Willow to Nome in the annual Iditarod Trial Sled Dog Race, which kicked off Sunday.

Aside from serious bragging rights, the winner of the grueling competition, now in its 39th year, gets more than $50,000 and a new truck.

The man to beat is Lance Mackey, who has won the race the last four years.
