Former Genesis front man throws it all away

(CNN) - Multiple Grammy-winning and best-selling artist Phil Collins is retiring from music.

The 60-year-old said he's suffering several health problems that make it hard to perform, including a dislocated vertebrae, hearing loss and nerve damage.

When he announced his retirement to FHM, Collins said he doesn't think he will be missed, adding, "It's hardly surprising that people grew to hate me."

Collins is the former front man of Genesis and later his own solo act.

Collins has won seven Grammy awards and snagged an Oscar for a song from the animated Disney film, Tarzan.
