2 injured in oil rig fire

NEW ORLEANS, LA (CNN) - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two men from an oil production platform that caught fire Sunday.

The blaze erupted on a platform anchored in the Gulf of Mexico, about 50 miles off the Louisiana coast.

Both men saved from the oil platform are being treated at a Louisiana hospital.

The Coast Guard sent a rescue helicopter from the agency's Air Station in New Orleans.

The company that owns this platform said the facility was not producing any product at the time of the fire.

An investigation is under way.
