MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A five-year-old child suffered non-critical injuries Monday evening after being shot at a home in the 920 block of Maury Street in Memphis.

Joe Williams, Jr. saw his little brother, Jayvion, get shot in the back around 8:00 p.m. as they were watching television.

"We were watching a movie, and he got shot in the back," Joe Williams said.

Jayvion Williams was taken by ambulance to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.  Police investigators said the front door of his home may have saved his life by slowing down the bullet.

"I said, 'I don't want him to die,'" Joe Williams said.

Police say the shooting may be related to an ongoing dispute between families, while family members were confident Jayvion was not the intended target.

"He couldn't gave had anything to do with it," said his grandmother, Annette Williams. "Just another innocent bystander hurt."

Investigators said the bullet fell out of Jayvion's shirt.  They believe the suspects may be in a light colored - possibly gray - Cadillac or Lincoln.
