Police: Fugitives bound parks workers, stole truck

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Jackson police say two fugitives from Louisiana suspected in a fatal carjacking have stolen a government pickup after tying up two workers at a county park.

A Jackson Police Department news release says 33-year-old Darian "Drake" Pierce and 36-year-old Ricky Wedgeworth got the truck about 1:30 p.m. Monday in a Madison County park.

Authorities have been looking for them since they escaped from Baton Rouge, La., police barracks March 4. They are suspects in the slaying of David Michael Cupps of Sunbury, Ohio.

Police say the fugitives were wearing dark coats, blue jeans and work boots and one had a brown hat and blue shirt. The white Ford Ranger pickup has license plate number GX-2951, the number 37 on the front bumper and Parks and Recreation decals on the doors.
