Gauge measuring Mississippi River level malfunctions

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - The Memphis gauge on the Mississippi river is not functioning properly, officials at the National Weather Service said Saturday.

The malfunction caused the gauge to issue readings that were higher than the river's actual level.  The last correct reading by the gauge was 46.83 feet, at 8:00 a.m.

Technicians are currently working to repair the gauge.  The river was projected to reach 46.9 feet at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, and 47.0 feet at 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
