BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has issued a beach closure because of a sewage overflow at Brady Drive in Biloxi. The closure applies to the section of the beach from Beauvoir Road to the east end of Sadler Beach Drive.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - The Humane Society of the United States is bringing dozens of rescued dogs from Mississippi to its headquarters near Washington for care and adoption. The organization says the arrival today in Gaithersburg, Maryland, of about 50 dogs from Tippah County, Mississippi, continues a process it began more than two weeks ago.

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Biloxi officials say at least 160 property owners are advertising on the Internet to rent their homes and condos for a few days or weeks and most aren't licensed or paying taxes to the city or state. The community development director says only one home is licensed for short-term rentals of fewer than 30 days in Biloxi.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi's ACT scores rose slightly again last year, although only about one in eight Magnolia State students is ready for college by the standards of the test. Mississippi's 2014 high school graduates made an average composite score of 19 on the test, ticking up from 18.9 last year.
