Gunman convicted of shooting Antonio Burks

(WMC-TV) - Friday morning, a jury convicted Darquan Swift of shooting and seriously injuring former Memphis Grizzly and University of Memphis basketball player Antonio Burks during a dice game in 2009.

Swift, who was a teenager at the time of the shooting, could face more than 100 years behind bars after he was convicted on eight charges, including attempted second degree murder.

His sentencing is scheduled for next month.

Swift shot Burks outside a vacant house on LaClede in July 2009. He and another man, Laderrious Carr, planned to rob a dice game that was happening outside the South Memphis home.
