Man accused of trying to sneak photos at tanning salon

(WMC-TV) - A woman claimed a customer was trying to take pictures of her while she was tanning at a local salon, though authorities can't confirm the accusation.

In an incident report, investigators noted a man was "possibly taking digital pictures/video of other female customers" during a recent incident inside the Tan-N-Go at Macon Road and Houston-Levee.

Sheriff's deputies made the scene after the business reported suspicious activity. Specifically, a female customer told employees that she saw an unnamed male customer in the tanning unit next to hers holding an iPhone over and under the partition separating the two rooms.

According to the incident report, deputies spoke to the man who said he has, in the past, taken pictures and video of other females inside the business.

But when deputies searched the man's iPhone, they did not find any obscene materials, pictures or videos of the female customer.

The man was not arrested or cited, but was issued a verbal trespass warning. Sheriff's deputies could not find the evidence to charge him with a crime.

Friday, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office declined to comment for this story.

Meanwhile, Tan-N-Go's corporate office also declined to make a comment, citing a lack of solid evidence or information, though a spokesperson said the company strives to make customers feel safe and secure.
