Man accused of Tunica carjacking caught

(WMC-TV) - The man accused of carjacking an elderly couple in the parking lot of Bally's Casino in Tunica was caught late Friday night.

Yarley Lyons of Memphis was arrested, ending what turned out to be a dramatic race against the clock to find him.

The carjacking ordeal started early Friday morning when Lyons allegedly robbed the elderly couple outside the casino and took off in their car.

Walls, Mississippi Police Chief Gary Boisseau spotted the stolen car on Highway 61 and chased him into Memphis. Boisseau struck the vehicle when Lyons tried to change directions before bailing out and running away.

"He was driving at a high rate of speed, extremely reckless, all the way from our city limits into Memphis," said Boisseau.

No one was hurt in the incident. Lyons is facing several charges in both Memphis and Mississippi. He is due in Shelby County court Tuesday.
