Arkansas man arrested for exposing himself to woman, children

(WMC-TV) - An Arkansas man spent the night in jail after police say he exposed himself to a Memphis mother and her children.

While 45-year-old Jeffery Martin sat behind bars Monday at 201 Poplar, a woman named Cynthia who answered the phone at his Jacksonville, Arkansas home said the sex crime her boyfriend is accused of committing Sunday evening in the area of Southwind and Faronia in Whitehaven cannot be true.

"He ain't shown no woman or kids nothing," she said. "Scott is not that type of person, or as ya'll know him, Jeffery."

Cynthia said Martin must have been using the bathroom when police say a woman reported a man in a pick-up truck exposed himself to her and her children.

The alleged crime didn't sit well with DeLois Jones, the mother of a two-year-old who lives in the same area.

"As a parent, I don't believe no adult should be out here conducting themselves like that in front of a child," Jones said. "That's inappropriate"

Officers from the nearby Raines Station precinct quickly responded to the call Sunday night, and pulled Jeffery Martin over a few blocks away.

According to an affidavit, the officers found a number of pills inside Martin's pick-up, along with, "a large container of Vaseline with the top off."

Martin's girlfriend said he was incapable of committing such a crime.

"I know he ain't showing himself to no lady and her kids," she said.

Martin was released from jail Monday and is due in court later this month. His girlfriend said he works in Memphis as a welder.
