(WMC-TV) - A four-year-old boy has been left without a mother or father after a weekend shootout in Memphis.

Monday, broken glass and a busted door were remnants of the tragic events a day earlier inside a residence on Rhea Avenue. There, Sunday morning, a domestic argument ended with the death of Latarsha Redick - nicknamed Neal by friends and family.

"I just want everybody to remember Neal as Neal," said her cousin, Jennifer Powell. "They know how Neal were. She was cool. She was easy to get along with."

Redick's family believes she was killed by her husband Larry, before he, too, was killed in a shootout with Memphis police.

Monday, their four-year-old son was alive and well, left without either parent, though he still has a huge family to count on for support.

"That's her life. That's her heart," said Latarsha's mother, Cathy Moore. "We're going to take care of him now."

Latarsha worked for a private company that provided security at St. Jude.

"Tarsha was a very, very sweet person," said Eric Coleman. "She will be missed. She will be missed."

Family members declined to discuss their perceptions of the relationship. Monday, a search of Shelby County court records did not reveal any legal matters between the Redick's.
