(WMC-TV) - Memphis police continued to search Monday for a man wanted for shooting his own sun.

Investigators have issued a warrant for Andrew Woodley, Sr. in connection to the shooting of his son, Andrew Woodley, Jr.  The elder Woodley has been missing since Saturday night, after his son was found shot inside an SUV outside a Pizza Hut on Knight Arnold Road.

"He's probably one of the nicest people I've eve met ,and it's just so sad that good things like that happen to good people," Paul Banks said Monday.

Banks is a friend and former classmate of the 18-year-old, who just graduated from Christian Brothers High School.

"I've known him for four years, since my freshman year," he said. "We've been great friends all along. He's just the type of kid that was always happy - never upset about anything."

Banks said the possibility that Woodley might have been shot by his own father is baffling.

"I can't understand why anyone would pull a gun on Andrew Woodley," he said. "He wouldn't hurt a fly. He's the nicest guy I've ever met."

Before graduating this spring, Woodley was a lineman for the CBHS football team, and a state shot put champion.

"Great athlete," Banks said. "Everybody loved him."

Banks said Woodley was all set to attend the prestigious Liberty University in Virginia on a shot put scholarship. He hoped his friend's injuries won't derail what could be a very bright future.

If you have information about Andrew Woodley, Sr.'s location, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
