$5,000 guitar stolen from funk star George Clinton's tour bus

(WMC-TV) - A one of a kind electric guitar was stolen from George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic's tour bus during a stop in Memphis.

The $5,000 guitar was stolen Saturday from Parliament Funkadelic guitarist Shaunna Hall.

"It's sad to lose a guitar," said Hall.  "I've really become pretty attached to this instrument.  I've used it exclusively for the past year."

The guitar is made of 100 percent carbon fiber and painted with pink flames.  It weighs four and a half pounds, which is light enough to allow Hall to keep working while recovering from a left shoulder injury.

Martin Music owner Eric Martin worried about the guitar's fate and noted the existence of an illegal black market.

"I think there are unscrupulous people that will take advantage of that," said Martin.  "And all they see it, I can get this instrument very, very cheap."

Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chip Washington said investigators are working the case.

"If someone has seen it, it's a rather unusual design as you've seen, to let us know so we can get it back to the rightful owner," said Washington.

If you have seen the guitar, call 901-568-5645.
