Historical marker placed in front of old Lansky Brothers shop

(WMC-TV) - The Shelby County Historical Commission dedicated an historical marker in front of the old Lansky Brothers Men's Shop at 126 Beale Sunday.

The shop has since moved inside the Peabody Hotel, but the location is where founder Bernard Lansky first began selling Elvis Presley his flashy fashions.

"He came in and he shopped like a rock star," said his son, Hal Lansky.  "Like my dad would say, Elvis would rather shop than eat.  He loved clothes."

The shop reproduces many items Elvis once wore.  They have also dressed thousands of celebrities during their 65 years in business.
