Storm blows blimp into woman's backyard

WORTHINGTON, OH (WBNS/CNN) – Is it a bird or a plane? No, it's a blimp. And Lillian Bernhagen discovered it in her backyard after police told not to be surprised if she saw lots of people trying to clean it up.

"I said oh, what's going on? And he said, ‘You've got a blimp in your backyard.' And I said, you've got to be kidding me."

The 218-foot Zeppelin blimp fell from the sky during a storm and the winds blew it into her Worthington, OH, backyard. It weighs 3,600 pounds, the equivalent of a small car.

"The only thing it did, it knocked my bird feeder down," Bernhagen said.

Bernhagen remembers hearing a bang, but assumed it was just the storm blowing through.

"There was a clap of thunder, so I just turned over and went back to sleep," Bernhagen said.

Crews spent all day picking up the pieces of their broken aircraft.
