Obama's poll numbers wane in New Jersey

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's favorability has declined sharply in New Jersey, a state he easily won in the 2008 presidential election.

In a recent Quinnipiac University poll, Obama received a 44 percent approval rating from Garden State voters - his lowest ever.

The poll also shows that 52 percent of voters disapprove of the president's performance. That's a 6 percent increase since June.

More than 1,600 people participated in Quinnipiac's poll.
