Kids "R" Us to close Memphis store

Toy and children's retailer Toys "R" Us is closing all 146 of its freestanding Kids "R" Us clothing stores by the end of January, including one in Memphis.

The company said its third-quarter loss widened due to higher overhead and stagnant sales.

It is cutting up to 38-hundred U-S jobs.

Toys "R" Us also is going to close all 36 freestanding Imaginarium stores, which feature educational toys, and three distribution centers.

All this amounts to eleven percent of its 1,629 stores worldwide.
