Health Department: Sanitation worker's death was heat-related

(WMC-TV) - A city of Memphis sanitation worker is the latest person in Shelby County to die of excessive heat, officials at the Shelby County Health Department said Friday.

According to a press release, the man, who has not been identified, died on August 4th of apparent heat stroke.

Officials said the man was found in his apartment, which did not have utilities connected to it.  An air conditioner and a fan were in the apartment, but officials could not determine if they worked due to a lack of electricity.

Officials said it was the seventh heat-related death in Shelby County this year.
