Mother of four recovering after being shot in bed

(WMC-TV) - A woman is recovering at the MED after she was shot while sleeping in her bed early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened at 2:00 a.m. Saturday on Willburn Avenue.  Someone fired into the home, hitting 37-year-old Teresa Freeman.

Freeman's husband, Demario Stevenson, said their bed is just on the other side of the home's front window.

Their daughter was also nearby working on a computer.

"When it hit, we jumped up because we heard the window crack," said Stevenson.  "The second bullet came, I ran out to see what was going on.  When I came back, my wife was just laying there.  I couldn't do nothing but cry.

Stevenson said he does not know if someone targeted their house or if stray bullets hit the house.  He also said Freeman, a mother of four, cannot feel her legs and is unable to talk because of the tubes in her throat.

Stevenson said Freeman is expected to survive.

Memphis Police do not have a description of the suspect or suspects.  If you know anything that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
