BOWIE, MD (WJLA/CNN) – A fellow student has been charged in the stabbing death of an 18-year-old Bowe State University student.
Dominique Frazier was stabbed to death last week in her dorm room. Her suite mate, Alexis Simpson, 19, has been charged with first degree murder.
"I saw her and know I couldn't help her," said student Donovan Settles. "She was pretty much; she was gone from what I saw."
According to court document, detectives believe Simpson stabbed Frazier in the neck with what witnesses described as a knife during an argument over music playing on an iPod speaker system.
The Maryland State Police are investigating the murder since it happened at a state school.
"The news started getting out, a lot of people took it hard and started crying, just took it to the heart, which is understandable," said student Corey Chubbs. "She was real popular; a lot of people knew her."
Even those who did not know the girls say the crime has them rattled. This is homecoming week at the school.
A pep rally and Friday classes were canceled.
"You go to school and you think this is a safe place that no one's going to have that idea, but then you see something like this happen," said student Terez Badger.
According to Frazier's mother, she and her suite mate did not get along. Her 19th birthday would have been Sunday.
