The accident, between Amtrak's "City of New Orleans" train and the SUV, happened between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

According to Tunica County spokesperson Larry Liddell, the SUV was struck by the train when its driver pulled around a car sitting at the railroad tracks and attempted to cross.

Liddell said the driver of the SUV was airlifted from the scene of the crash to The MED in Memphis.

No one on the train was injured.  The train was expected to resume it's journey to Memphis, and ultimately Chicago, after investigators cleared the scene.
