Accidental phone call saves attack victim

Sheboygan, WI (WTMJ/CNN) – An accidental phone call turned out to be a blessing for a woman whose boyfriend was attacking her.

Angela Phister says her boyfriend, Floyd Rashid, 20, hit her during an argument, and while he was attacking her, his cell phone pocket-dialed her father.

"He's never acted out in a manner that I've been scared to that point," Phister said.

The two had been drinking. Phister said Rashid became aggressive and accused her of cheating.

"You know that I had done this and that with another person and that's what he was upset about," Phister said.

Phister says Rashid attacked her while their 2-year-old slept. While he continued to attack her, her father rushed through the door.

"The next thing I remember my dad came through the door," Phister said.

Phister's father heard all the commotion on the other end of the call and stopped the attack.

"He grabbed him and kinda shoved him," Phister said.

Phister says it was a call at the right time.

Rashid is charged with strangulation, false imprisonment and disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
