Berkeley students stand by controversial bake sale

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO/CNN) - A controversial bake sale planned at the University of California-Berkeley has Campus Republicans in hot water.

The sale features a sliding scale where the price of the cookie or brownie depends on gender and the color of skin.

For example, white men would pay the most and Native American men would be charged the least. All women would get a discount.

Organizers said it's in response to pending legislation that would let California universities consider race or national origin during the admissions process.

Campus Republicans will go ahead with their bake sale on Tuesday and are committed to their controversial pricing structure.
