Suspect in nightclub shooting recovering in the MED

(WMC-TV) - New details have emerged in a shooting outside a Beale Street nightclub early Sunday morning that sent six to the hospital.

Krista Mullins remains in the MED as she recovers from three gunshot wounds, but she has been charged with one count of attempted second degree murder.

Investigators said Mullins shot at a Memphis police officer who was responding to gunfire in the parking lot of Club Crave.  He shot back and hit her.

Five other people were shot before the police arrived.  Mullins has not been charged with shooting them.

A source who knows Mullins said she was groped by a stranger while dancing with her boyfriend inside Club Crave.  It started as an argument that eventually ignited outside the adjoining parking lot.

The source said someone in the other party shot Mullins' boyfriend.  She then pulled a gun and fired back.

The source described the situation as a gunfight and said Mullins was not aware that the responding officer was a cop.

Mullins is due in court Wednesday, but her appearance is contingent upon her health.
