BRANDON, FL (WTSP/CNN) – A microchip helped reunite a family with their dog, which had been missing for two years.
After vanishing from his Sacramento, CA, home in 2009, Cooper, a Chihuahua-mix, is finally heading back to his family. Nearly 3,000 miles away, two women spotted him walking along a busy street in Brandon, FL.
They brought him to an animal hospital, where employees scanned him for a microchip that told them just how far the little guy had traveled.
Nobody knows where Cooper's been for the past two years, but his family in California cannot wait to see him when he returns on Monday.
The microchip company, Home Again, is covering the expenses to fly him back home.
