(WMC-TV) - A man convicted in a 2009 rape, robbery and kidnapping near the University of Memphis was sentenced to 125 years in prison.

A jury found Jermaine Owens guilty on two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, two counts of especially aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated rape in late August.

Prosecutors say Owens and two other men ambushed a couple at the Stratum Apartments on Highland in December 2009. The victims were driven to another location where the woman was raped. Her boyfriend was shot and robbed.

Today a judge sentenced Owens to serve 25 years in jail for each count.
