Homeowner charged with aggravated statutory rape

(WMC-TV) - A homeowner was charged with raping a teenager inside his home over several years after a home invasion Wednesday.

Police swarmed the neighborhood on Bartlett Boulevard Wednesday after a 17-year-old called 911 from a bedroom inside the house, claiming two men were breaking in.

"I was very surprised it would happen on a busy street like this," said neighbor Lisa Bishop.  "Very quiet neighborhood."

Bartlett police later learned the teen knew the suspects, Kristopher Pulliam and Marcus Bradford, who were arrested within minutes of the 911 call.

"It does help knowing that it wasn't just random," said Bishop.

Once the teen was thoroughly questioned, investigators said she and homeowner "Hector" Tejeda Palacios, 46, had a sexual relationship since the time the teen was 14.

"I've never actually met him," said Bishop.  "I've seen him, my husband has spoken with him.  I had no idea there was anything like that going on."

According to a police report, the teen told officers, "she and the defendant have had consensual sexual intercourse in excess of 100 times while at his residence."

Palacios, who is a native of Mexico, was charged with aggravated statutory rape.  He had to surrender his passport and was placed in jail with a $35,000 bond.

Palacios and the two men accused of burglarizing his house all appeared in Bartlett Municipal Court Friday morning.  His case was reset until Monday.
