VERO BEACH, FL (WPTV/NBC) - Unusually wet weather brought some unusual travelers down area highways in Vero Beach, FL.
Catfish from a nearby pond that overflowed were seen swimming in the street.
"First time I've seen fish going down the street on U.S. 1," said Dan Carmonitti, a local resident. "Nothing but solid rain for two days now and we're about over it."
Indian River County received nearly ten inches of rain over the past few days, leaving streets and parking lots flooded. The county's public works director says the county's storm drain system was just overwhelmed by all the rain.
Heavy winds also knocked debris into roadways.
